Position Title:  Controller

Location: Miami, Florida (Coconut Grove) 

Salary:  $150K + annual bonus



Technical Skill Set Required - Controller:



  • Completes subordinate’s performance evaluations in a timely manner.

  • Supervises all aspects of the Company’s accounting, investments, payables and credit functions.

  • Directs the production of monthly financial statements and all other internal and external financial reporting related to the corporation and its affiliates, including consolidation and inter-company transactions

  • Oversees the development of the financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting requirements, including consolidation of affiliated organizations

  • Reviews, analyzes and interprets financial and budget reports

  • Maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system)

  • Assists with the preparation of the annual budget and other budgets and financial forecasts

  • Responsible for fiscal compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

  • Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary

  • Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments

  • Reviews, documents and assists with procedures to ensure an efficient and effective financial statement month-end close

  • Assists in day to day operations of the accounting and finance department

  • Assists and/or prepares new program development budgets as necessary

  • Reviews grant billings and/or other revenue generating billings to assure revenue maximization

  • Has thorough understanding of healthcare accounting and reporting practices including capitation transactions, IBNR estimates, cost reporting for regulating agencies such as Medicare

  • Meets with insurance brokers and evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities

  • Supervises, mentors and evaluates performance of various personnel Accounting Department staff that include those in charge of monthly financial statements, cost reports, and grant billings functions

  • Recommends staff training requirements and has the duty to keep staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and department objectives and recommend personnel be hired or removed from the Department

  • Provides consistent compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, as well as organization policies and procedures

  • Create systems and reporting to support the organization’s strategic and financial models and processes as well as formulation of accounting policies and procedures

  • Manages and fosters organization’s relationships with funding and regulating agencies, financial institutions, outside accounting firm, including coordination of the annual audit

  • Compares performance with operating plans and standards, reports and interprets results of operations to all levels of management including Executive Committee and Board of Directors when deemed appropriate

  • Assist business development department with due diligence related to mergers and acquisitions

  • Coordinates the preparation of the corporation and its affiliates quarterly, annual corporate tax returns

  • Assists with any special projects as necessary



Job Requirements:




To qualify, candidates must have:
 
*Minimum of 10 years Accounting experience


*Bachelor's degree, with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance


*Master’s Degree or MBA highly preferred


*CPA
