Registered Nurse - Part Time Position for Long Term Care Facility

Registered Nurse Summary:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of medications, treatments, documentation and emergency calls as indicated. The Registered Nurse will supervise the nursing care of all assigned residents and delegate the duty for direct care. This position reports to the Director of Nursing.
Registered Nurse Job Duties:
Administers treatments, including, but not limited to: dressings, catherization, suctioning, oxygen, etc. Assists in direct resident care as necessary and administers medications.
Maintains accurate documentation of medication administered and care rendered.
Supervise and direct CNAs in accordance with Nursing Practice Act. Assist when necessary. Assess and serve as first resource for residents and staff on nursing care problems.
Know and give report for total resident care including assessment, medications, treatments, and daily living and psychological care.
Practice restorative nursing to allow resident to function at his / her maximum level or independence.
Charge RN to check on all residents on his/her unit and manage problems as necessary.
Complete all resident and work records including nursing assistant assignments and care cards; medication and treatment records, nursing notes, daily report sheets, resident care plan, and 24 hour report sheet.
Assess residents needs daily and change actual and written care plan accordingly in ink. Know the status of residents with private duty nurses. Be sure all private duty nurses remain with their residents during the shift.
Count narcotics and sedatives. Identify and correct any errors. Sign that these medications have been counted. Enter new orders or reorders in the count book.
Completes all necessary documentation in resident’s medical record via electronic charting system
Registered Nurse Other Duties:
Admit and discharge residents.
Eliminate all hazardous conditions as they occur. Should any incident occur involving injury or harm to a resident, notify the doctor and the resident’s family or responsible party after having cared for the resident. Fill out an accident report and document in resident’s chart. Update RN on-call.
Assist doctors on rounds; check and initiate new orders; see that verbal and telephone orders signed. Have doctors review and renew all orders appropriately. Check scripts for 60-day renewal of narcotics. Comply with the Resident’s Bill of Rights.
Maintains the self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each patient.
Abide by Nursing Department policies, practices and standards of care.
All employees are expected to respond to emergency situations involving the safety of residents, other employees and our physical plant. This includes the ability to assist with a possible evacuation of residents.
Registered Nurse Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
Prior experience and experience in long-term care facility, preferred.
Must have current Registered Nursing license in the State of WI.
Must have CBRF certification, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to document care given.
Possesses ability to communicate effectively with residents, families and staff. Must use sound judgment, works well under pressure and possesses strong organizational skills.
